DANCE BREAK / 2025

A sonic, environmental and functional intervention at Café Keese, Berlin, 2025.

In her site-specific project entitled “DANCE BREAK,” Hajnal Németh transformed the function and atmosphere of a cult Berlin dance bar with minimal yet significant interventions. Instead of dance music, the speakers were broadcasting field recordings, movement on the dance floor was replaced by motionlessness, and the environment designed for active entertainment this time paradoxically encouraged a participatory, passive activity, a kind of „strike against action”.
